First Responder Counselor, Jada Hudson, Brings "Accelerated Resolution Therapy" to Illinois

(SUGAR GROVE, IL) November 4, 2017– As of November 4, 2017, Jada Hudson M.S., LCPC, CADC, is the first counselor in the state of Illinois, who is trained to provide a unique type of trauma counseling known as “Accelerated Resolution Therapy” (ART), Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an evidence-based treatment for psychological trauma and depression and is endorsed by the federal government, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMSHA), the National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP), and military leaders, whose recent emphasis has been to equip more therapists to provide Accelerated Resolution Therapy in order to bring these therapists to the troops and veterans who have acute stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

WHAT IS ACCELERATED RESOLUTION THERAPY?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is founded in established psychotherapeutic techniques and is currently being studied at the University of South Florida (USF) through a 2.1 million dollar grant through the Department of Defense (DOD) for use with combat veterans. This technique has been used on Green Berets, special operations commanders, and hundreds of veterans and active duty troops to treat PTSD, typically in just 1 to 4 sessions. For individuals who have been unable to move past intrusive memories of traumatic events, Accelerated Resolution Therapy often can help those memories fade and help the individual’s physical reactions to those memories calm down. Individuals still remember the events, but they do not cause the same stress reactions they used to cause, and they stop intruding daily life for the individual.
